Ombudsman Training Schedules

Ombudsman Training Schedules

Ombudsmen are required to attend Ombudsman Basic Training (OBT) within six weeks of their appointment, per OPNAVINST 1750.1F. OBT schedules are posted by state and installation at the Ombudsman Training Schedules link. Some classes are offered in remote locations for Reserve and other isolated ombudsmen. OBT is standardized and any ombudsman, active duty or Reserve, can attend any training as approved by their commanding officer.

Ombudsman Orientation Training Schedules

Not all ombudsmen are able to attend Ombudsman Basic Training within six weeks of their appointment. An ombudsman orientation is available for these situations. This ninety minute overview of OBT serves as an interim, emphasizing the fundamental elements of the course. Attendance of this orientation does not replace the requirement to attend OBT. Schedules are located at the Ombudsman Training Schedules link.

Welcome

Welcome to the Navy Family Ombudsman Registry. The Ombudsman Registry was established by Task Force Navy Family in August 2005 in response to the hurricanes in the Gulf Coast region. The registry allows CNIC to deliver real time communication and information to Commanders, Ombudsmen, and Ombudsman Coordinators. Commands are required to register, assign their ombudsman, and ensure that required worksheet data is submitted per OPNAVINST 1750.1F of 31 March 2007.

The year-to-date total cost avoidance to the Navy by having ombudsmen volunteer their time is
$1,408,462.00.
